Yesterday’s antics

I was arrested at the peace rally yesterday. I intend to plead not guilty to a charge of failing to comply with the verbal direction of a police officer.

Just to clarify a couple of the ridiculous stories being pushed by the police and perpetuated by the media — nobody threw bricks or rocks; the only urine there was pissed all over the pavement by the police horses.

You can see some photos at the Perth IMC (warning: lots of large images). I’m seen in a couple of them — the guy with too much hair holding a large banner with black and red print on it.

So what exactly was the verbal direction from the police officer?

Why were the police pissing all over the pavement?
I’ve been to plenty of demos, but never seen them do that. Eeew.

The direction was “move”. I did, but was arrested anyway.

(Should have read “police horses“, and now does.)

Welcome to the wonderful world of lying coppers. I have been the victim of the pricks 3 times (each time I was sticking up for aboriginal people being harshly dealt with - that’s why I left Brisbane…the general populace has a disgusting attitude up there). There’s not much you can do except cop a small fine and insist that the officer is lying under oath. It doesn’t get you very far. Good luck.

That’s right tony, we’re banjo playin’ redneck racists the lot o’ us.

It never fails to amuse me when I see those who loudly decry prejudice so quick to indulge in it themselves.

Great pic’s - too bad about getting arrested. I guess I’ll have to keep a closer eye on those mounted enforcement types when the weather here gets warm enough for them to come out again here.

Is the ALP putting up the money for the lawyer?

    Thanks, Stageleft. Nice site, btw.

No, the No War Alliance has some lawyers who are doing pro bono work.

    Rob,

They just showed pics of people fronting up at court in relation to these arrests. Were you the one in the red shirt?

Yeah, that was me. I got interviewed on 7 and 9 here in Perth, and they showed a one-sentence sound-bite on each.
