Do you know if the ALP are producing “Latham for PM” bumper stickers? I’ve been thinking for a while that I wouldn’t mind one of them! Might be seen by more people than my office computer screen.

I haven’t seen any yet, but I imagine they’ll get around to it eventually. I’ll let you know if I hear anything.

Selling the bumper stickers could be a money-spinner, Robert, if each time the policy on troops in Iraq was suddenly changed, we changed the font and brought out a new series?

But what is Latham’s policy? Here’s what he said on radio when he kicked off this storm of debate:

[O]ur intention is to ensure that once the responsibility is discharged — and that is at the time of the handover to the new sovereign government in Iraq – then Australian troops will come back…

    Here’s John Howard’s policy:

We don’t intend to keep them there longer than is necessary to do the job, but you do the job, you satisfy the job as being done, then you pull them out.

    What’s the difference?

Clearly Robert, you’ve missed our ‘policy’ variations on the troops which have taken place in recent years [both pre and post Latham]. Kevin Rudd is aware of them, which explains why he was so embarrassed as he dodged the issue on television.

what about a “Latham – doing to cabbies what the Howard Govt’s been doing to you”

Isn’t all the open space on the left (haw haw, open space on the left – Tim Blair will use that) of that thing just asking for some dickhead to do an edit job on it and create some ‘hillarious’ taxi driver gag or something?

    …or here’s something more artistic.

“Doing it TO the kids” would be more appropriate given the recent history of the ALP. Are Keith Wright and that other Qld ALP pervert (both of whose activities were known within the ALP and were covered up) still in gaol?

And if you can’t tell the difference between ‘bringing the troops home on July 1′ and ‘when the job is done’, your capacity to hold 2 totally contrary positions simultaneously is impressive even for a Leftist.

I’ll say goodbye now. Whenever I speak truth to idiots, they ban me from commenting. Nothing a Leftist hates more than other people’s free speech.

What about a few slogans for the Libs?

    How about, “Mediocrity Uber Alles”

Or, “Abandon All Hope, Vote Liberal”

The first of your suggested slogans, M.J., has already been adopted enthusiastically by the “progressives forces” for the approach to education. It’s inappropriate, of course, since they don’t really support anything as elitist as mediocrity.

I want to vote for him, honestly, I really do.
But “Do it for the kids”? That’s hysterical.

It is, of course, somewhat tongue-in-cheek. Then again, perhaps the “free books for babies” policy is going to clinch some of the swinging voters…
