Testing my patience

A couple of new Shadow Ministers are really testing my commitment to the ALP, and the review isn’t really off the ground yet.

Perhaps one day when Howard is finally history, the wets in the Liberal Party will gain control and we will see the ALP as the right-wing party.

If the ALP continues on its roll to the right, it will cease to be an effective opposition, will never achieve government again and rightly so.

The fact that there is hostility towards refugees in the ALP is nothing new. Both the Fergies brothers have said similar things before. I remember Martin in the full Tampa onslaught saying similar things. And let’s not forget Carr.

In regards to the unions, look, we have to be seen to be OK by them. Hawke did well with them and the way this pissed the Libs off was great to watch.

In regards to the ALP moving to the right thing..I think that the whole electorate has, with the help of Howard. The idea is to be seen to be more on the right, get elected and then shift the whole paradigm towards the left once in power.

That is what Howard and Bush have done (in reverse) remember Howard saying that we will be relaxed and confortable and then released attack dogs on wharfies and sent soldiers to Iraq thus increasing the security risk in Australia?

And Bush? He was labelled himself a ‘compassionate conservative’ but once in power he let it rip.

    Sorry that paragraphs should read:

“In regards to the ALP ties with business, look, we have to be seen to be OK by them. Hawke did well with them and the way this pissed the Libs off was great to watch.

What is it with Labor’s immigration ministers and shadow ministers? Calwell, Theophanous, Bolkus, Ferguson. Sends shivers up the spine of anybody

Bring back the likes of Al Grassby!

    Hi Robert,
Here is my letter to the age in regards to ferguson.
After reading Laurie Ferguson’s comments about refugees
I don’t know whether he is an ignorant redneck like
Pauline Hanson, or a deceptive, misleading,
manipulative, and divisive politician like Philip
    Ruddock.
Robert walk away from the ALP. Join the Greens. It is less soul destroying.

    Hi hackwatch.

We none of us are impressed with Ferguson.

Walk away from the Greens. Join the ALP. It is less self-affirming and more productive.

The Tooth Fairy Brigade “Progressives” may [it's a theoretical possibility at least] be right; but their “certainty” is reminiscent of those well-meaning Crusaders, galloping to their doom. Laurie Ferguson actually deals with real third world migrants on a daily basis in his electorate. And if any of you ran against him there, both being permitted to use the Labor badge, he’d thrash you.
Unless, of course, the vote was restricted to that tiny minority of self re-appointing ethnic “spokesmen” who’d possibly support you.
Then again, that sort of “ethnic leader” wouldn’t be too heavy on the ground in Laurie’s working class electorate, would they?
