Shorter Hendo

The Shorter Hendo: “Some people who say ‘I will slit my wrists if…’ don’t actually mean it.” I’ll slit mine if his columns don’t improve.

Gawd. I honestly tried to read the whole thing, but nup. How do you do it? (nb: fairly rhetorical question)

Several op-ed writers need comments below their pieces, so the readers can fact check their articles for them – and refute them if necessary. The constant use of “majority” in his article neatly sidesteps the fact that the election in the US was 51% vs 49%. So slim-majority would be a more accurate use of language. Yet all the commentators with a leaning stay “globally” on-message. This is probably the greatest innovation of the Murdoch media, it has allowed an inter-network of nation-states and their leaders to stay on-message with the same message; andin real-time.

    Huzzah for the anglosphere.

I really liked the bit at the end where he subtly threatens Colette with unemployment.

I like his “Leftists shouldn’t deride those who voted for Bush or Howard as idiots. Meanwhile, leftists who voted for Kerry or Latham are idiots.” argument.

Talking of weak threats…. A crap “personality/comedian” in the UK by the name of Jim Davidson said in the early 90s he would quit Britain if Labour ever came to power. Roll on 1997 and the fucker stayed put.

Henderson’s article would never been written without the concerted efforts of all those who provided the necessary ammunition. I do, however, understand why some would find finishing it un-nerving.

Hendo to the power of less

As usual, I’m having to backstop Rob Corr. Lets face it, there’s just too much material in a Henderson piece for one blogger to keep on top of. In this case, there’s just one glaring error I’d like to draw attention to.

    Michael Moore! A millionaire!
Just as the poorly played several chords inspired a thousand bands, it is clear that Hendo is the Sex Pistols of political writing.

    The Ponds Institute
In a breathtaking leap of logic, Gerard Henderson pokes his head out of the “Sydney Institute” (you know the one, just down the street from the Ponds Institute),
