Wrong method?

Damn that “whole language” reading education: Australia ranks fourth in the OECD for high-school reading proficiency, according to the latest PISA report.

It isn’t a very flattering abbreviation is it -PISA.
The whole language thing is a great big PISA and has caused huge amounts of literacy problems and delays in school children. Which is a boon for specialist teachers, but in my experience with primary teachers it created a era of really lazy teachers who could get away with putting very little effort into making learning how to read accessible for little kids, and absolutely inaccessible for kids with any sort of literacy delay. Who ever thought of that was a really really big P***

Oh, and by the way that was meant to be ‘into’, but I learnt typing by the whole-language method.
