New order

Okay, Beazley’s backing Macklin. That’s enough to bump him down my list: unity should not be another word for mediocrity. So now it’s 1. Tillops; 2. Gillard; 3. Rudd; 4. Beazley. Best almost-attainable option: Rudd/Gillard double act. Oh, and if NSW unites behind Beazley, I’m holding Liam Hogan personally responsible.

    Who is Jenny Macklin?
Heard of her? WHat she stands for? Then you’d be one up on most. So why is she deputy leader?

the same way so many people so it’s a no brainer that it’ll be beazley, it’s gotta be a no brainer that Macklin gets the tap on the shoulder…

I’m still hoping sanity prevails and that Beaz os opp leader, rudd is shad treasurer and gillard is deputy.

Going to agree with you on this.

While Macklin is not a bad speaker in public forums, she has failed to make a name for herself in the media.

However, Rudd lacks the ability to speak in a language that can connect with people.

This can be overcome, of course.

Backing Beazley because, partly at least, he would be able to take it up to Costello and has experience and a personality that allows him to reach out to people across the board.

Hah! NSW left wingers were the key to getting Macklin there in the first place. God knows why.
Rob: I wouldn’t mind being held responsible for that, I’ve been held responsible for worse things I didn’t do.

“However, Rudd lacks the ability to speak in a language that can connect with people.”

Could be said of Beazer, Darlene – the whole Labor leadership contest is a mendaciously meretricious boondoggle.

    What the?

Yes, I do remember that “Beazer” was accused of being prolix or something in 2001.

Perhaps it’s just more Rudd’s tone.

I think Rudd’s tone lends it self to economic policy which , while dull, needs to be seen to be in the hands of someone who is safe and sure.

We need to avoid cataclysmic (sic) fuckups like going to the election with Crean as the invisible shadow treas.
