I have fond memories of a Mosman Park Liberal arguing for the protection of Mandurah from the railway as if it were the home of some lost Amazonian tribe.

Here's a tip. Back in the olden days, ending under Kennett, the Melbourne Metropolitan Board of Works had a tunnelling group. Worked on the poo farm at Werribee, then dug the tunnels for the Thompson Dam, then the City Loop. Run for a couple of generations.

Saved a fortune, was the only group of engineers continuously involved in tunnel building in Australia. Closed of course, so the subsequent Burnley Tunnel was built by contractors who weren't specialists.

The point? They got jobs digging other tunnels around the world. Hong Kong. It sounds like the Perth railway management could do the same thing. That'll learn them privatisers.

I reckon he'll reprivatise the ENTIRE Transit Guards back to Chubb, or get John Ryan and Secureforce to run em- his solution would be to play Elvis over the PA systems :-)

Also, they'd privatise the suburban trains to someone like Connex.

Totally Agree !!

Also, The libs under Eric The Tractor Driver Charlton, Closed the Midland Railway Workshops. Scrapped the highly successful Passenger Service Assistants who were a bo0n for people with disabilities like myself, and replaced with a vastly reduced combination of Customer Serice Assistants during the day and Private Security Guards at night.

This was as a result of a massive media beat up of "Violence on trains", which involved 3 girls who had their Jeans stolen - What wasn't mentioned, was that the actual offence happened AWAY from Railway property !!!!

Also, Court re-privatised the Bus Companies and are now complaining that there isn't enough bsses on weekends and Public holidays !!!!

That Nationals Ad shown on 7 News tonight showing the "city politician" drivinghis kids to School across the road reminds me of certain coalition pollies in the Werstern Suburbs :-)
