Olson wrong again
ANF secretary Mark Olson reportedly had a go at Wanneroo MP Dianne Guise outside the Labor launch, telling her she wouldn’t be in parliament after the election. In fact, Guise pulled off a massive swing to win the formerly marginal seat with 50.7% of the primary vote. The ANF’s “independent nurse,” Anne Cowley, came in dead last with under 400 votes. Now Olson’s come crawling back, cap in hand.
And Alison Hornsley in Swan Hills pulled 253 votes :-)
Methinks the Nurses will vote Olsen out with a vote of no confidence, and Olsen will be pre-selected for tjhe seat of Cottesloe when Barnett retires from politics at the next election.
That is a good conspiracy theory there Frank… but you will probably be quite right though :)
I would honestly hate to be a nurse in WA at the moment. What on earth is the collective doing at the moment? Sitting on their hands and doing what? In other words, if Olsen is doing that bad why hasn’t he been turfed as yet?
Cos The Nurses hang on his every word - he’s a smooth operator.
But after Saturday’s debacle, I think the Nurses are revolting :-)

The problem is that Olson’s opponents quit the union rather than stand and fight. Also, there was a restructure in 2002, in which the central body dictated the creation of new sub-branches. I suspect this new structure has helped him entrench himself as secretary.
I am a nursing student and I work as an agency nurse assistant. I can tell you I will NOT be joining the ANF while Mr. Olsen is still in. I hope the nurses do revolt, especially after his despicable behaviour comes to light. Anyone know where I can keep up to date on the dickhead?
Olsen is a megalomaniac. Actually both sisters are.
