Milking a tragedy
The Liberal Party would never try to use Schapelle Corby’s plight for partisan political gain… would they? Update: Hawke says it wasn’t him.

Hang on a minute, is our Mr Alex Hawke claiming to be a Christian or somehow representative of conservative Christians or even worse that the Liberal Party has a franchise on Christ? If that is the case then he’s a liar and I’m the king of Siam.
Yes, that’s what annoyed me the most. Here’s some arsehole making a clearly partisan, pro-Liberal Party post on a website, and when it’s moderated he complains that the web site is anti-Christian?
What an arsewipe.
Clearly this so-called “Alex” is an anal-maggot.
It should be noted that Hawke isn’t “the Liberal Party”. If anything, within the Liberal Party proper, he’d have to be a troublemaker?
He’s the federal president of the Young Liberals, and his comment asked people to join the Liberal Party and gave the Liberal Party website as his URL. It’s not a great leap to suggest that he was (or claimed to be) posting on behalf of the Liberal Party. But in case he’s not, Weezil has asked John Brogden for a reaction. Apparently it will be in the newspaper soon, too.
There’s been a lot of press about this joker recently. I predict he will turn out to be the Andrew Landeryou of the Young Liberals!
Gets him a pretty big profile of course– a victim of the “leftist media”. He’s gonna be a hero to the rancid Right.
This is a bit OT here, but I had no other way of contacting you; you may have already seen this; Bolta’s gone overboard again, and mentions you (feel free to delete this comment if you’ve already seen it):

Comment: Hi Andrew, Regarding “The Firebrand”…
Andrew replies: How interesting. A couple of Labor staffers, such as Robert Corr, have posted some things that should shame their employers.
How entertaining! He’s obviously still smarting after Pandagate embarrassment.
It made the end of this story in the SMH today.
If Alex Hawke is the best the Libs have to offer for the future then perhaps the ALP have a good thing coming to them.
It was just really quite dumb to do such a thing.
A bit quick off the mark everyone. This may well be the case of a fake post. He’s still an arse though.
It looks as though it has turned out to be a fake post. See Weezil’s place for more details.
The Young Liberals != the Liberals, though? Obviously you’d know more than I about the connection between the two, but surely being hot shit in the Youngs is worth little if you don’t have the respect of the Olds…
Trackback.
Learn how to spell her name, fuckwit!
The NSW Young Liberals now mirror there senior colleagues in that the hard right, championed by Alex’s boss, is in firm control.
The SMH site have crossed through the sentence below now that Alex has denied connection. He claims police are investigating – I await the outcome with eagerness. Perhaps Young Labor President Sam Dastyari is actaully responsible? (I have no basis for that)
From the article:
Yesterday, the national president of the Young Liberals, Alex Hawke, said the Leader of the Opposition, Kim Beazley, was “not doing much” to help Corby, and enraged the moderator of online support forum dontshootschapelle.com by posting the following comment: “If you want to really make a difference, join the Liberal Party – the only party working to make sure Schapelle gets justice.”
Settle down Rudy – Jeez.
Not really on topic – but is anyone else cynically suspicious of the Federal Government annoucing massive IR reforms the day before the Corby verdict swamps all intelligent conversation in the media? Or just co-incidence?
Anyway, I saw Vanstone saying she felt sorry for Schapelle, being locked up and all. Geez, Amanda….at least she got a trial.
Happy now, Rudy? Still, I think you proved there’s at least one dickhead around here.
