London bombings
News of the terrorist bombings in London is terrible, with (at this stage) 20 people murdered and 150 seriously injured. Such crimes can never be excused, and my thoughts are with the victims’ friends and family.
A group calling itself “Secret Organisation – al-Qaeda in Europe” has claimed responsibility on a terrorist website. The attack coincides with the first full day of talks at the G8 summit, and was probably aided by the fact that substantial police and counter-terrorism resources had been redirected to Scotland.

I actually heard the story break on 6PR during Sattler’s show and even his UK reporter hwe was talking to at the time wasn’t aware of the dramas unfolding.
ABC TV are showing BBC World coverage and are currently showing Lateline live from the East, while ABC 720 are having special coverage from their Melbourne studios and forsaking the Cricket coverage.
7&9 had some coverage till 7.30pm before returning to regular programming while Ch 10 were showing Big Brother :-)
