Comments
Ten things about commenting here.
-
Participation: Please comment. I know there are people who lurk around blogs but never post a comment, but I reckon you should confront your fears and join in. Interaction is the best aspect of blogging, and it doesn’t work without your participation.
-
Debate: Feel free to disagree with me or any of the other commenters: there’s nothing duller than an echo chamber. Conversely, feel free to agree with me and stroke my ego!
-
HTML: Basic HTML is supported, including
<i></i>,<em></em>,<b></b>,<strong></strong>,<blockquote></blockquote>, and<a href="http://url">link-text</a>. Please double check to make sure your tags are closed, and if you’re not sure how to use them, just ask! -
Gravatars: You might have noticed that some people have little icons next to their comments. If you want one, simply register a Gravatar and watch the magic happen.
-
Copyright: By submitting a comment, you agree to become a Creative Commonist and release it under a Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 2.0 license. This applies notwithstanding any expression to the contrary in the comment.
-
Confidentiality: Your details are absolutely confidential. I need your email address for my spam filter to work, but it will never be displayed on the blog and I certainly won’t pass it on to anyone else.
-
But: If you decide to have multiple personalities that pretend to argue with each other (and it’s happened!) then I’ll probably post your IP address so that people know it’s one person.
-
Anti-social behaviour: While a little bit of flaming, bad language and off-topic posting is no big deal, if it becomes disruptive then it’s not funny any more. Try to respect the other users (to the extent that it’s possible). Threatening, defamatory or otherwise potentially illegal comments will be dealt with harshly.
-
Consequences: There are a number of options open to me, including polite requests to stop, deleting offensive comments (or parts thereof), or banning commenters — but let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.
-
Questions: If you have any questions about this policy, or if you are having problems leaving a comment, please feel free to email me.
